Lews Castle at Stornoway

Stornoway

...'Capital' of the Outer Hebrides

There's a lot more to Stornoway than you might imagine. An eclectic mix of architecture, ranging from traditional Scottish style gentlemens' residences, the ultra modern new arts and sports centres to brightly painted new mews houses.

At the harbour, fishing boats unload their catches, pleasure yachts and small cruise ships visit while the ferries bring visitors and essential lorry loads of supplies.

A walk from Cuddy Point provides interesting views of Lews Castle, built by the Matheson family but better known for its connections with Lord Leverhulme.
