Pudding night - January 2010

Cabarfeidh pudding night

Pudding Nights

We've just staged our second pudding night, following the sellout success of the first one in November.

Over 80 turned up on a typical dark January and enjoyed all the dessert samples they wanted to try, plus tea and coffee.

A wide variety of puddings was prepared, including
filled choux pastry swans, chocolate roulade, Vivek’s authentic North Indian carrot pudding and Granny Scott’s drop scones with
tangy plum jam and chantilly cream.

General manager, Alastair Borland, said, “There are lots of people who are busy looking after a family, or working to another busy schedule, and perhaps not getting enough time to develop their passion for great food.”
“Having noticed and welcomed small groups of folk getting together in the Cabarfeidh lounge for puddings, a drink and a chat, I thought this could be an informal chance for people to enjoy a taste of luxury, sample new ideas for puddings and other home-making ideas for the family, in the company of friends and like-minded people.”
If you want to attend the next event - please phone Cabarfeidh Hotel reception on 01851 702604.

MARKS AND SPENCER SUPPORTS LOCAL BUSINESS

As part of their commitment to the well-being of local independent businesses, Marks  &  Spencer  sponsored a trade show at the Cabarfeidh Hotel, during  its pre-Christmas visit on 4th and 5th November.

Local traders were offered spaces, paid for by M&S, to exhibit and sell their goods in the Cabarfeidh's Willow Suite.

The offer reflects M&S' recognition that the success of town and village centre trade is assured by the co-operation by businesses of all sizes in a joint effort to make traditional shopping a continued, enjoyable experience for consumers. By working together, such businesses can help minimise the shift of trade out of old established shopping areas.

For customers, this unique collaboration will offered the chance to enjoy making a selection from M&S' huge range of quality products and also buying from traders who are also able to offer a wonderful choice of Christmas gifts, many of which are individually created by our own island entrepreneurs.

Meals and light refreshments were available throughout the show period at the hotel, so that guests from the more outlying parts of the area could comfortably turn their visit into a full day treat.

Wedding Show - 20th March 2010

If you’re planning a wedding, a visit to the annual wedding show at the Cabarfeidh Hotel is a must.   This year’s show was a great success, no charge was made to exhibitors who showed their appreciation by contributing for a collection for Macmillan Cancer Support. Together with a door collection, we raised over £400 on the day.

There were two catwalk perfomances, featuring Sallie Jayne Avis's latest bridal gowns worn by Cala Hotels staff and their friends. Several of the hotel group's male staff and friends modelled a variety of traditional highland dress by Ben Wyvis Kilts of Inverness.

Several of the exhibition tables were taken by people new to the Stornoway wedding show, offering items as diverse as handmade bookbinding and musicians.

After each of the fashion presentations, prize winning singers Josie Duncan, and Kirsty Watt played the harp and flute. Their performance of Caledonia was exceptionally fine.

At the Cabarfeidh Hotel and Caladh Inn, wedding co-ordinators have the experience to help you plan all aspects of your wedding.  They know just how to combine all the elements that make a wedding day successful, relieving the happy couple of any worries about the event – while involving them in all the enjoyable aspects of the planning.
